Natural Treatment for Psoriasis

By AdminPosted On 13-Mar-2017

Considered to be an autoimmune disorder with links to genetics, Psoriasis occurs when the skin cells multiply aggressively and dies quickly on the surface. This leads to red, raised formations on the skin surface covered by white scales. It occurs typically on scalp, elbows knees, soles of feet, palms, and torso.

Symptoms of psoriasis:

The symptoms of psoriasis include painful and itchy skin, cracks on skin leading to bleeding, reddish skin covered in grey scales, breaking and discoloration in nails and plaques covering large areas on skin.

Psoriasis treatment in ayurveda

Ayurveda describes Psoriasis (Kushth) to be a by-product of mental stress along with a vitiation of kapha and vatha dosha. The main cause of this disease is attributed to the deposition of low potent poison due to reasons such as intake of food with opposite nature (example- milk and curd), drinking cold water during and soon after a stressful physical condition, less exposure to sunlight, skin injury, heavy meals, excessive use of black pepper and curd, and so on. These lead to accumulation of toxins in blood (rakta), nutrient plasma (rasa), lymph (lasika) and muscles (mansa).

Treatment for Psoriasis:

Treatment for this disease involves purification of these toxins from the body. This is done by purifying the blood and tissues. Initially some herbs are given to strengthen the tissues for complete healing. Then a regimen of panchakarma treatments are enforced. These treatments are said to provide relief from psoriasis permanently.
